Reflection

Let’s go back to what I have learned in this class of inf 103.  In the first weeks of the class, we learned how to make a website on wordpress. It started out simple on how to make an account, what was going to be about.  Later on, we learned how to edit our website, place pictures, how to edit buttons and lastly how to make our first post.  As the semester when by we learned a lot more things, like how to look for the IP Address & Geolocation, what it meant.  What actually is the internet, how to search, how careful you must be with your search and safety.   We learned that the internet is as private as it always said.  The professor also recommended us some apps for our safety, to make it safer against hackers or against a lot more thing that goes around the internet.   If I am being honest, I didn’t know a lot of this things, like how unsafe is the internet. I did have my concern but now I how them multiplied which is something is good because now I know how to be more careful on what I download, search and on what websites I use. I learned to be a lot more careful on who am I providing my information as well, like even my name can be unsafe which I thought it wasn’t even possible.  I also learned what it meant to the IP Address & Geolocation which I didn’t have a clue, how to use it, or how to look for it or what it meant.   This class has been very useful I have learned things that didn’t know were possible I think it should remain the same.  People should learn more about the internet and how unsafe and dangerous can be.

3D printing

Description:

3D printing is an advanced technology instrument that creates three-dimensional objects through the process of adding layers on top of layers. This printer is capable of creating with a wide variety, from something as simple as a plastic ball, to prosthetics for people who lack a limb. Its capacity is a great advantage for creativity, innovation and entrepreneurship of an object of any type of design.

However, a vast majority of 3D printers, at least the most classic model, have the disadvantage of taking from 30 minutes to several days, depending on the object, for it to be completed. Even so, there have been victorious attempts to create different types of printers, improvement in the use of thermoplastic materials (material that is used to print the object) and many other things in order to perfect the use of this magnificent machine. There is no doubt that the ability to create 3D objects is impressive, its potential in creating any object that humans design and its usefulness in fields of study such as graphic design, medicine, fashion and prototyping of any kind will definitely make this world. Something awesome.

TEDTALKS:

First Video: What if 3D printing was 100x faster? | Joseph DeSimone YouTube. (n.d.). YouTube. https://youtu.be/ihR9SX7dgRo

  1. Information gathered from the video
    1. 3D printing is essentially 2D printing over and over again
    2. They created a 3D printer that instead of doing the regular 2D on 2D printing, it has the 3D printing material in a liquified puddle and creates the print 25 to 100 times faster than a regular 3D printer
    3. They can also do different textures and types of matter. For example: standard 3d printing plastic, more rubbery, hard prints (of stronger material)

Second video: Forget Shopping. Soon You’ll Download Your New Clothes | Danit Peleg YouTube. (n.d.). YouTube. https://youtu.be/w1oKe8OaPbk

  1. Information gathered from the video
    1. She was able to do her fabric with 7 printers running 24 hours seven days a week (about 10 to 15 years before her ted talk which was done 4 years ago from today)
    2. She explained that if the technology back then would have taken her so long to come up with this fabric, who knows what the 3D printer would do to our ways of life 10 years from now?
    3. Something most of the videos i’ve seen on these ted talks is that 3D printing can essentially revolutionize what we know today. She started off by asking, “could you imagine life if you could just, instead of shopping, download your clothes?”

The internet is a place that you must use with caution, now days people go around the internet as if nothing bad is going to occur.  People are giving out their information to anyone, personal information when you shouldn’t never. You don’t know who is receiving that information and what is their goal to do with it. This is why you should navigate and see who you are giving the information too. Search more about the website, about the URL, there is some cases where they make a website identical to the original one but when you look closely at the URL there a letter missing or a capitalize letter. With this you give you your personal information too someone who is not trust off.  So next time look more closely to those details before giving your personal information.

Let’s discuss about how google and Facebook and even other social medias and pages have your personal information.  Some of this apps and pages register your location, sometimes you must be careful to who you are proving this location.  In some cases, as you may have seen some of the apps or website have the option to enable it. I have always had question myself why you would need to provide your location in some of the apps when is not needed.  That’s why I am always saying no to providing my location, and always looking too take that option off you shouldn’t be providing this location to any website or app unless is needed because you never know what the reason is to use it. Another thing I want to add is this issue about using your cam and your microphone, you should always be aware in your configuration to see what has enable it and what has not you may never know what that is using those two things.

I am very aware that the internet is not a safe place and that should be aware to who you are providing your information.  But it doesn’t mean you cannot use it, there are some things that there are reasons why they ask to enable things and ask for information for safety.  In these cases, this is the reason why should always read the information that provides and why they are asking for and always search for more information on it.  You shouldn’t ever go on a website without looking on it first, search on it and be sure is safe.
